Change Of Name Of Shareholder in Shares.

In case of old shares, name as give in the certificate is often not the spelling the person uses in his name. This is due to various reasons.

· At the time of application of shares in public issue in 1970’s and 1980’s name integrity with respect to supporting documents was not prevalent with the result name as displayed in the share certificate may not be the same as what is available in Pan Card and Aadhar Card.

· Initials may be omitted or expanded.

· There may be spelling mistakes in the name, since the forms were handwritten and ill-legible handwriting and may leave to computerization of name with wrong spelling.

· Spaces is added or omitted in the name, for e.g., Ramprakash may be a single name, but it may have been printed as Ram Prakash.

· South Indian name do not have surname. Often the name sequences interchange. It may be written as Mahalakshmi Sivakumar, Sivakumar Mahalakshmi, S. Mahalakshmi or MahalakshmiS. All these are one and the same person.

· In today’s world often Pan Card and Aadhar have mismatches too.

· There are other reasons like numerology or just wish to change the name or obtaining a different surname in case of women after wedding.

Due to these even simple things such as Demat of shares is not possible.
